Persverklaring: Paarlberg weerklink met mooiste klanke om vryheid te vier
Die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM), KC 107.7 en TC Events Co bied op die vooraand van Vryheidsdag ʼn buitelug-piekniekkonsert aan waartydens talle musikante die gaste met ʼn verskeidenheid genres gaan vermaak. Dié heerlike herfsaand-vertoning vind op Maandagaand, 26 April 2021, plaas ter viering van die land se eerste demokratiese verkiesings op 27 April 1994.
Chelsea Vox, DJ Spartan, DJ Lovell, Jakkal the Bones, Mario Arnolds, RJay & LK asook SoulSound Band beloof om besoekers op die lowergroen grasperke met ʼn wye musiekkeuse te beïndruk wat onder meer jazz, klassiek en R&B sal omarm. Gavin Meiring, hoofbestuurder van KC 107.7, sê: “Ons is baie opgewonde om die eerste Vryheidskonsert aan te bied en sien daarna uit om sommige van ons luisteraars te ontmoet.”
Volgens die ATM se direkteur, Michael Jonas, wil hulle met hierdie geleentheid nie net die bevryding van die land nie, maar ook die bevryding van Afrikaans, in herinnering bring. Ook wil hulle inwoners en toeriste daarop attent maak dat die pragtige monument ʼn lewende instelling is. “Besoekers kan van die geleentheid gebruik maak om hierdie unieke, simboolbelaaide beeldhouwerk te besigtig. Ons moedig gaste aan om die omgewing te verken en hulle het ook toegang tot veilige parkering, ʼn pendeldiens, buitelug-speletjies, kinderspeelparke asook ’n skryfwerk-uitstalling waar nuwe Arabies-Afrikaanse werke tans te siene is,” sê hy.
Belangstellendes sal egter moet spring om kaartjies via Computicket te koop aangesien net 500 beskikbaar sal wees teen slegs R100 per volwassene (gratis vir kinders onder 6). Hekke open om 17:30 en die vertoning duur tot 21:30 in die Tuinteater. Gaste kan hul eie piekniekmandjies en drankies (geen glas) bring. Helaas word geen gazebo’s, honde of vure toegelaat nie. Onthou warm klere, ’n kombers of kussing, flits asook ʼn masker.

Press release: The sound of freedom on Paarl Mountain
The Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM), KC 107.7 and TC Events Co will present an outdoor picnic concert on the eve of Freedom Day during which numerous musicians will entertain the guests with a variety of genres. This glorious autumn evening performance will take place on Monday evening, 26 April 2021, in celebration of the country's first democratic elections on 27 April 1994.
Chelsea Vox, DJ Spartan, DJ Lovell, Jakkal the Bones, Mario Arnolds, RJay & LK as well as SoulSound Band promise to impress visitors on the lush green lawns with a wide choice of music that will embrace jazz, classical and R&B. Gavin Meiring, general manager of KC 107.7 says: “We are very excited to host the inaugural Freedom Concert and looking forward to meeting some of our listeners.”
According to the ATM's director, Michael Jonas, they want to commemorate not only the liberation of the country, but also the liberation of Afrikaans, with this event. They furthermore want to remind residents and tourists that the beautiful monument is a living institution. “Visitors can take the opportunity to view this unique, symbol-laden sculpture. We encourage guests to explore the area and they also have access to secure parking, a shuttle service, outdoor games, children's playgrounds as well as a writing exhibition where new Arabic-Afrikaans works are currently on display,” he says.
Those interested will have to buy tickets via Computicket as soon as possible as only 500 will be available at only R100 per adult (free for children under 6). Gates open at 17:30 and the show in the Garden Theatre lasts until 21:30. Guests can bring their own picnic baskets and drinks (no glass). Unfortunately, no gazebo’s, dogs or fires are allowed. Remember warm clothes, a blanket or pillow, torch as well as a mask.
